Abstract
Jennie Golding has worked with a full range of mathematics learners aged 5-18 for many years. She now researches mathematics education policy and its enactment/impact in classrooms, including with a focus on ‘the forgotten third’. But who are these young people? Jennie will review the evidence around five key aspects of typical ‘baggage’ in their relationship with mathematics, and possible approaches to moving forward from those.
