Title: Evaluation of Einstein Year
Additional information: a. Science education b. Survey, observations, interviews and focus groups. c. As one of few formal evaluations of 'year of' events undertaken, it provides a model to be used in similar evaluations of informal education events. Includes a large scale study of attitudes towards science and scientists among 11-14 year-olds undertaken across the UK and Ireland over 2005. d. The evaluation was awarded in December 2004 through competitive tender to the Institute of Education team led by Professor Michael Reiss. e. Quantitative attitude survey returns from 26 secondary schools across the UK and Ireland, resulted in 7,054 pupil responses. Evaluation included analysis of 19 adult formal interviews; 6 focus groups; 15 event ethnographies; 34 event evaluation reports; and 58 sets of materials produced for the events. f. Report commissioned by the Institute of Physics. g. The author was mainly responsible for the design, conduct and analysis of the attitude survey.
