Abstract
London schools have recently been highlighted for their success against the odds and languages are a feature of this rosy picture. As Initial Teacher Educators (ITE), who work with Student Teachers and Subject Mentors across London’s 32 boroughs and outlying counties, we are aware that despite the constant stream of tales of woe, there are success stories to be told. In this book, we aim to share some examples of best practice from across the London ITE partnerships. Each of the case studies outlined aims to celebrate and share successful practice against a strong theoretical backdrop. Our subject continues to have a number of challenges and hurdles but these stories show what can be done within strong university-school partnerships, where all involved read, reflect and adapt practice to support learners in becoming successful in their languages education. Against the backdrop of ever changing policy and ever evolving theory, we aim to highlight practical solutions to some of our most challenging issues.
