Masters thesis , University of London.
Abstract
The Public Private Partnership arrangement is becoming one of the prevailing ways of public sector procurement for infrastructure construction and operation in many countries all over the world to meet the needs of infrastructure development and economic growth. Despite opportunities and benefits, undertaking PPP projects in some developing countries, such as China, involves many uncertainties and risks that are mainly due to immature economic market and embryonic legal structure in developing countries. The objectives of this research is to analyse the financial risk management practice adopted separately in the UK and China PPP projects for ensuring the financiers to recoup their capital and interest in time, with a view to drawing lessons from the UK PPP projects for those in China. This MSc report describes the situation and measures of financial risk management in PPP projects between the UK and China separately, and compares their differences through case studies. As last of this report will draw lessons and advantages of the financial risk management from UK PPP projects and give the improvement suggestions to China PPP projects.
