Abstract

This note of gratitude marks two milestones in the maritime academic community: the 20th anniversary of Ships and Offshore Structures (SAOS) and the 10th anniversary of the International Conference on Ships and Offshore Structures (ICSOS). Receiving the Award of Appreciation in such a year is deeply humbling and invites reflection on our collective achievements. Under the leadership of Professor Jeom-Kee Paik FREng, SAOS has grown into a globally respected journal that bridges theory and practice, shaping research, industry standards and international policy. In parallel, ICSOS has become a “living dialogue” for scholars, industry leaders and policymakers, fostering collaboration on critical issues, such as decarbonisation, marine pollution and transformative technologies. As the maritime sector undergoes profound transitions driven by climate change, sustainability demands and technological innovation, I reaffirm my commitment to supporting SAOS and ICSOS, promoting global collaboration and helping to nurture the next generation of maritime innovators dedicated to a safer and more sustainable future.
