Abstract

Even though organizations want creative ideas from their employees, managers often fail to endorse those creative ideas. However, many inventions that were at first rejected exist today which begs the question as to who is willing to endorse creative ideas and why? In two studies and a meta-analysis of another five studies, we show that managers who are highly psychologically entitled are more willing to endorse creative ideas than managers who are lower in entitlement because highly entitled managers disregard the costs associated with creative ideas and instead focus on the personal rewards they expect to obtain from implementation.
