Abstract
Carey Young is drawn to examining the sensory and emotive aspects of law that are often overlooked. While the rich red surface depicted in this photograph evokes abstract painting, it shows a sumptuous velvet tablecloth marked by the dynamic hand gestures of judges during their decision making at the International Court of Justice in The Hague - the ‘world court’ - that settles disputes in accordance with international law.
