Abstract
The purpose of this research project is mainly to explore how professional adults can be scaffolded in the process of independent upskilling given the changes caused by the advancement of technologies and artificial intelligence that alters the skills needed of the employees in the work environment. The initial aim is to investigate in-depth how such technological solutions (for instance, web platforms or mobile apps) can be designed, and ultimately how to develop a mobile platform considering each functionality related to the phases of self-regulated learning. Those functionalities consolidate the academic techniques that effectively help people to learn a new skill. Moreover, when developing this platform model in upskilling context, we are concerned with adult education, our ultimate mission is to understand whether, in the development of competencies, there are already changes in job performance. The theoretical basis of this study is to situate self-regulated learning in the professional scope by analyzing its implications with the development of 21st-century-skills and the application of artificial intelligence. This study will be conducted using mixed methods, firstly producing a systematic review on studies that analyzed platforms that applied self-regulated learning. Then, it will be constructed a matrix of 21st-century skills considering a review of the studies and lists of those skills specifically directed to professionals of business administration in the contexts of start-ups. Finally, with the platform implemented and tested by users, the objective is to collect data to analyze it quantitatively applying multivariate regression.
