Abstract

Inter-organelle communication is critical for the generation of complex Ca2+ signals. A recent study by Atakpa et al provides evidence that membrane contact sites between lysosomes and the ER facilitate lysosomal Ca2+ uptake to shape cytosolic Ca2+ signals derived from the ER.
