Abstract

The impact of alcohol on the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a widely debated topic. Dara O’Neill, Steven Bell & Annie Britton discuss their new study, published in BMC Medicine, which finds that inconsistently moderate drinkers, former drinkers and non-drinkers each have greater risk of developing coronary heart disease (CHD) compared to consistently moderate drinkers.
