Abstract

This paper presents the results of the geophysical (magnetometry) and visual archaeological survey in the surroundings of San Vicente de Meá church (Mugardos, A Coruña). This area has interesting roman archaeology but it is also significant for our understanding of the transition between the Roman and Medieval period. The results of the archeological survey will be combined with a comprehensive review of other sources of historical information about this area (documents, folklore and place names) before proposing an interpretation of the historical evolution of this galician coastal area between antiquity and the central middle ages.
