Title: Staff Development Outcomes Study
Open access status: An open access version is available from UCL Discovery
Language: English
Additional information: The main aim of the TDA funded study, which took place from January to December 2008, was to investigate how staff development, if undertaken in a systematic way across the school workforce, could lead to improved outcomes for both pupils and staff. Data were collected by qualitative and quantitative methods and included 35 case studies of schools and a questionnaire survey with an achieved sample of 1612 senior staff, teachers and support staff from over 600 schools. In terms of significance, we were invited to present the research findings to three strategic groups within the TDA as well as at conference presentations and in the TDA journals, Professional Teacher and Bitesize research.
