Additional information: This refereed journal article is drawn from a project funded by Nuffield which conerns children talking and reasoning in primary mathematics lessons. It draws on transcripts from video-taped lessons as well as computer screen dumps. It is relevant to recent calls for a focus on classroom talk which promotes mathematical reasoning, as advocated by the Williams review. It also contributes to the debate about the place of ICT in the primary curriculum. This document has been closed as the permission of the publisher has not been verified.
