Abstract
This chapter analyses the forfeiture rule which prevents killers benefiting from their crime. It argues that the rule generally operates as part of succession law within the wider law of property, preventing any property rights passing to the killer. Only when the killer already has rights does the forfeiture rule operate in other ways.
