Additional information: First study in the world to qualitatively investigate the pedagogicial interactions of teaching assistants. Turn-taking, topic and repair analysis conducted on over 3,000 utterances in mathmatics lessons. Advances theory by proposing a new framework for the analysis of class-based learning interactions. This is the author’s version of a work that was accepted for publication in Learning and Instruction.
