Abstract
Between the pre-school fantasy and teenage disillusion, the career ambitions of 7 year olds help reflect where they could be heading, though some tracks are well established by class and gender. There is also a small association between types of aspiration and children’s current behaviour problems. IOE Research Briefings are short descriptions of significant research findings, based on the wide range of projects carried out by IOE researchers.
