Abstract
This study investigates provision, infrastructure and support to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of servicemen and women during their early career in the Armed Forces, and the impact of skills levels on operational effectiveness. IOE Research Briefings are short descriptions of significant research findings, based on the wide range of projects carried out by IOE researchers.
