Abstract
This dissertation is about evaluating the alternative dispute resolution methods used in the Greek and UK construction industry. The main purpose is to examine whether the dispute resolution procedures as used in the construction industry can be applied effectively in the Greek construction industry. The theoretical frameworks of the resolution procedures the Greek and UK construction industry use to settle their disputes are presented and analysed. Consequently, the main issues extracted from the critical literature review were assessed by Greek practitioners of law with the use of semi-structures interviews. The case studies indicated that dispute resolutions like arbitration are disappointingly uncommon and not preferable from the construction industry in Greece. It is deemed that the practical and effective procedures provided by the UK dispute resolution framework can be an ideal guideline for the Greek dispute resolution system. Keywords: alternative dispute resolution procedures, arbitration, adjudication, Greek construction industry, UK construction industry.
