Abstract
In this chapter I identity some of the principal challenges that have been facing built environment education over the last five years or so, and particularly in terms of three areas: research, teaching, and (more briefly) communications. I also consider how we might address these challenges in both strategic and more specific courses of action. Some of this is quite general, in the sense that it might be equally applied to all kinds of university and higher education research and teaching, but some of it is much more specific to the field of the built environment. In doing this, I refer mainly to the situation at my own academic home, The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment at University College London (UCL), and explain some of the ways we have been working here.
