Abstract
This chapter offers insights on the challenges and possibilities surrounding how research has and can influence policy action. The chapter addresses policy gaps as well as the non-linear relationship between policy and policy trajectory and research. It also presents the challenges one might encounter when considering evidence-based policy in the field of music education. Policy window issues and policy sustainability are also addressed and include examples of practices in the UK, Ireland, and Brazil. The chapter highlights the significance of understanding the role of informed practice and its interaction with policy substance and context, particularly when the interest is development of music projects and their sustainability.
