Abstract
I argued that the decision to extend the offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm to the transmission of HIV through consensual sexual intercourse was defensible, on the basis that the complexities in disproving consent of the victim to run the risk of contracting HIV would mean that only the worst cases would be prosecuted.
