Additional information: This is an account of a pioneering project funded by JISC which examines innovative approaches to using technology to support formative assessment. For the first time in the field It relates theoretical approaches from work on assessment to the use of technology for assessment, and it borrows an innovative approach to looking at design drawn from the JISC funded Planet project and applies it to the generation of design patterns for formative e-assessment.
