Abstract
Provisional abstract This chapter follows upon the landmark “Technology and Mathematics Education” (Kaput, 1992) from the first edition of this Handbook. In the twenty years since the publication of Kaput’s seminal chapter, the application of technology in mathematics education has blossomed in diverse ways many of which were anticipated by—but many of which go beyond—Kaput’s fertile imagination. An enduring strength of Kaput’s work derives from his ability not only to review contemporary research and development advances, but also to project forward from those advances. We aim to follow in this spirit.
