Abstract

This paper examines the emerging concepts of Open Scholarship, Open Knowledge and the European Commission’s advocacy of Science 2.0. It then looks at how this vision can be delivered via Open Access to research publications, soundly-based research data management practice and Open Data. The paper then examines what tools and services are available to support the researcher in this new endeavour, and looks at new developments in university-based Open Access publishing, repository services for the LERU Legal Community in their new Open Access portal, the DART-Europe portal for European research theses, and tools for copyright management. For research data training, the paper looks at LEARN (LEaders Activating Research Networks), which is a project submitted for European funding on 2 September 2014 by leading European universities with partners and collaborations. The paper concludes by suggesting that LERU could usefully offer a LERU Certificate in Open Scholarship for new doctoral students, as Open Scholarship should now form a key part of the training for the next generation of University researchers.
