Abstract
This study traces the itinerary and the transformations of a motif – the flight of the wooden horse – from medieval romances (Méliacin, Cleomadès, Valentin et Orson) to demonological treatises of the late Renaissance (Du Triez, Del Rio). It focusses on the difficulty of drawing a clear boundary between fictional and discursive texts in the Renaissance.
