Abstract

This qualitative research investigates the wellbeing experiences of Mexican families from disadvantaged backgrounds whose preterm babies are admitted to neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in public hospitals. Using digital diaries and semi-structured interviews, the project explores how families navigate the emotional, social, and practical dimensions of care during neonatal hospitalisation. The study seeks to contribute to understanding the multidimensional nature of wellbeing within neonatal care and to inform policies and practices that promote nurturing, infant- and family-centred developmental care (IFCDC) in Mexico.
