Abstract
This chapter covers James Heckman’s contributions to economics. It is divided into two main parts. The first part, running from Section 1 to Section 6 inclusive, summarises his research on labour supply, selection and discrete choice, labour market dynamics, and programme evaluation. The second part, running from Section 7 to Section 11 inclusive, discusses Heckman’s approach to structural econometrics, human capital formation, and life-cycle skill formation.
