Abstract
This toolbox was created to support school- and community-based professionals in meaningfully involving young people in the design, delivery, and evaluation of mental health initiatives. While existing guidance often targets large research organizations with greater resources, this guide offers practical, context-specific tools tailored to everyday practice in schools and community settings. Drawing on insights from lived-experience youth consultants and findings from the HeadStart programme (2016-2022), the toolbox provides frameworks, strategies, and ready-to-use tools that make participation more transparent, equitable, and sustainable. It is designed to help professionals build stronger collaborations with young people, amplify their voices, and create services that are more relevant, responsive, and impactful.
