Abstract
Trying to engage with personalisation is not an easy task, given the prevalence of its shifting culturally and historically bounded meanings. The historical roots of a personalistic approach in education and in the teacher education field, as opposed to academic, competency, and social recontructionist approaches, lie in the child study movement initiated by Stanley Hall.
