Abstract
There are numerous voices nowadays advocating for a political economy approach to understanding and regulating markets.1 Markets are – according to these authors – multidimensional economic, historical and societal artifacts that should be analysed and regulated in a similarly multi-layered fashion by using, for instance, complexity economics or other interdisciplinary knowledge.2 In this setting competition law is to move beyond its narrow-minded focus on price-centric metrics, efficiency and consumer welfare; develop a more holistic understanding of the economy; and even take into consideration a multitude of public interest and industrial policy goals.3
