Abstract

The transition toward a low or zero-carbon global economy, particularly in electricity generation, transportation, and industrial sectors entails substituting fossil fuels with renewable electricity or other low or zero-carbon alternatives. The decline in demand for fossil fuels can therefore create demand-side risks for the ships used to transport those fuels. This report focuses on the risk of stranded assets for stakeholders of the shipping industry involved in the shipping of fossil fuels as a cargo.
