Abstract
In this chapter, I want to explore the wide range of options that geography teachers have to help their students learn about geographical information systems (GIS) and other geospatial technologies. The chapter will explain how such technologies can help students to a better understanding of geography, and also how factors inhibiting their use can be overcome. The chapter focuses on three possible choices of geospatial technologies: GIS, Earth viewers and digital mappers. Each area of discussion is supported by illustrative case studies and highlights the opportunities and challenges associated with particular routes into geospatial technology in school geography.
