Abstract

Community based education has shown promise in providing access to education for children in hard to reach areas especially for girls. Despite its promise, CBE remains an area to be further explored. This qualitative study attempts to bring CBE’s teachers perspectives on issues facing CBE in Afghanistan. It also highlights teachers’ opinion on factors creating a positive learning environment for CBE students. These include teacher trainings provided before and during CBE, ample oversight of CBE classes by various actors including the community council and classroom resources provided to the teachers.
