Abstract
This article explores the innovative steps taken by three schools to ensure that professional development (PD) truly connects with and drives the achievement of our colleague, strategic goals and improvement priorities. All three chose to radically reform the key process of performance management to achieve their aims, bringing coherence to the relationship between PD and strategic planning and placing the learning of both staff and pupils at its heart.
