Type: Book chapter
Title: Musical identities, learning, and education : Some cross-cultural issues
ISBN: 9781409425601
Language: English
Additional information: This chapter originated as an editorial introduction to a book (Green, Ed, 2011, Learning, Teaching and Musical Identity: Voices Across Cultures, Indiana University Press); then mutated into a Keynote address to the National Association for Research in Music Education in Germany; and was then expanded to form the current invited chapter. It involves an appraisal of some of the implications of a range of newly published research, leading to an interpretation of various ways in which musical globalisation is affecting local and national identities, particularly in relation to learning.
