The Preschool Executive Task Assessment (PETA) was developed to resemble an everyday age-appropriate task in order to examine the self-direction and integration of executive functions during a multistep task. It was designed so that performance can be evaluated in a microanalytic way and so individualized feedback and support can be easily communicated. The utility of the PETA was assessed with 166 three-to five-year olds. Results showed improved performance with increasing age and verbal intellectual quotient as well as good task reliability and utility. Evidence for influence of socioeconomic status, gender, and use of self-talk was also observed. Clinical applications and future directions of this novel measure are discussed. date: 2018 date_type: published official_url: http://doi.org/10.1080/09297049.2017.1333092 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1297239 doi: 10.1080/09297049.2017.1333092 lyricists_name: De Haan, Michelle lyricists_name: Kirkham, Fenella lyricists_id: MDEHA58 lyricists_id: FKIRK91 actors_name: Waragoda Vitharana, Nimal actors_id: NWARR44 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: Child Neuropsychology volume: 24 number: 6 pagerange: 784-798 event_location: England issn: 1744-4136 citation: Downes, M; Berg, C; Kirkham, FJ; Kischkel, L; McMurray, I; de Haan, M; (2018) Task utility and norms for the Preschool Executive Task Assessment (PETA).
