At the same time, public funds dedicated to transportation are experiencing vital cuts, creating this way considerable problems and forcing transportation specialists to investigate new ways of meeting this financial challenge; a set of options comes under the umbrella term 'value capture'. In this context, the objective of the present paper is to develop a multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) evaluation framework for the selection of the most efficient value capture financing mechanism for urban investment on transportation infrastructure and more importantly, to conduct a comprehensive sensitivity analysis in order to examine the stability and thus efficiency of the obtained results. The MCDA method used is the analytical hierarchy process (AHP), while for the sensitivity analysis Monte Carlo simulation is used. The application of Monte Carlo simulation revealed very interesting pathways concerning the level of ambiguity and uncertainty of the results. date: 2017 date_type: published publisher: IGI Global Publishing official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1504/IJDSS.2018.10013425 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1413860 doi: 10.1504/IJDSS.2018.10013425 lyricists_name: Medda, Francesca lyricists_id: FMEDD49 actors_name: Dewerpe, Marie actors_id: MDDEW97 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: International Journal of Decision Support Systems volume: 2 number: 4 pagerange: 236-247 issn: 1941-630X citation: Roukouni, A; Vavatsikos, AP; Giannopoulou, M; Medda, F; (2017) A combined MCDA - Monte Carlo simulation approach for the evaluation of investment decisions on public transit.
