An analysis of the developed PCB architecture is presented, detailing the three development areas of the proposed LoPCB platform, i.e. microfluidics, biosensors and electronics. Design rules and potential fabrication limitations are also discussed, based on the characterization of prototype fabricated systems. Two PCB-based devices have been designed and fabricated, a microfluidic active diluter with a variable and actively controlled dilution ratio and an electrochemical biosensor. The obtained results demonstrate the feasibility of a complete LoPCB platform, where all three compartments will co-exist and co-operate, providing an electronic-based PoC system for electrochemical biosensing. date: 2016-11-09 publisher: IEEE oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1294214 doi: 10.1109/HIC.2016.7797713 lyricists_name: Papadimitriou, Konstantinos lyricists_id: KPAPA49 actors_name: Waragoda Vitharana, Nimal actors_id: NWARR44 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public series: Healthcare Innovation Point-Of-Care Technologies Conference (HI-POCT) volume: 2016 place_of_pub: Cancun, Mexico pagerange: 126-129 event_title: Healthcare Innovation Point-Of-Care Technologies Conference (HI-POCT) - 2016 institution: Healthcare Innovation Point-Of-Care Technologies Conference (HI-POCT) book_title: Proceedings of 2016 IEEE Healthcare Innovation Point-Of-Care Technologies Conference (HI-POCT) editors_name: Dhawan, AP editors_name: Pearlman, PC citation: Vasilakis, N; Papadimitriou, K; Evans, D; Morgan, H; Prodromakis, T; (2016) The Lab-on-PCB framework for affordable, electronic-based point-of-care diagnostics: From design to manufacturing.
