abstract: This Compass think piece analyses the role of the progressive political party in the 21st Century the lens of Antonio Gramsci's concept of the 'Modern Prince'. The paper argues that in the conditions of the 21st Century and Neoliberalism 2.0, that the concept of the Modern Prince has to be superseded by the Very Modern Prince in which the political party has to be joined by a wider political formation in order to successfully establish a progressive Historical Bloc
