Both techniques are evaluated on real and simulated data, and the importance of EC correction for estimating microstructure is illustrated with the NODDI model. We demonstrate that correcting moderately high b-value data with standard EC correction techniques introduces distortion that compromises the anatomical correspondence between the DWIs and leads to questionable estimates of microstructural features. We show our alternative circumvents these issues and provides good correction. date: 2015 publisher: ISMRM (International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine) official_url: https://www.ismrm.org/15/15program.htm vfaculties: VENG oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_source: Manually entered elements_id: 1039374 lyricists_name: Drobnjak, Ivana lyricists_name: Graham, Mark lyricists_name: Zhang, Hui lyricists_id: IDROB84 lyricists_id: MGRAH02 lyricists_id: HZHAN50 full_text_status: public publication: Joint Annual Meeting ISMRM-ESMRMB event_title: ISMRM event_location: Toronto event_dates: 01 June 2015 - 05 June 2015 citation: Graham, M; Drobnjak, I; Zhang, H; (2015) Why should standard eddy-current distortion correction techniques be avoided even for moderately high b-value data?
