Estimation of brain weight is an integral part of autopsy, but manual segmentation of organ volumes on MRI is labor intensive and prone to errors, therefore unsuitable for routine clinical practice. In this paper we aim to show that volumetric measurements of the post-mortem fetal and neonatal brain can be accurately estimated using semi-automatic techniques and a high correlation can be found with the weights measured from conventional autopsy results. date: 2014 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.nicl.2014.10.007 vfaculties: VFPHS vfaculties: VENG oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green article_type_text: Journal Article, Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't verified: verified_manual elements_source: PubMed elements_id: 993432 doi: 10.1016/j.nicl.2014.10.007 pii: S2213-1582(14)00161-2 lyricists_name: Cardoso, Manuel lyricists_name: Melbourne, Andrew lyricists_name: Modat, Marc lyricists_name: Orasanu, Eliza lyricists_name: Ourselin, Sebastien lyricists_name: Taylor, Andrew lyricists_id: MJMCA47 lyricists_id: AMMEL98 lyricists_id: MMODA28 lyricists_id: ORASA82 lyricists_id: SOURS59 lyricists_id: AMTAY28 full_text_status: public publication: Neuroimage Clin volume: 6 pagerange: 438 - 444 event_location: Netherlands citation: Orasanu, E; Melbourne, A; Cardoso, MJ; Modat, M; Taylor, AM; Thayyil, S; Ourselin, S; (2014) Brain volume estimation from post-mortem newborn and fetal MRI.
