The barriers between the dot and reservoirs are set high to isolate the dot. Within a time scale of similar to 100 s the dot can be set to a nonequilibrium charge state, where an empty (occupied) level stays below (above) the Fermi energy. A pulse containing a fixed number of SAW periods is sent through the dot, controllably changing the potential, and hence the tunneling probability, to add (remove) an electron to (from) the dot. date: 2007-01-26 publisher: AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOC official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.98.046801 vfaculties: VENG oa_status: green language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green article_type_text: Article verified: verified_batch elements_source: Web of Science elements_id: 319847 doi: 10.1103/PhysRevLett.98.046801 language_elements: EN lyricists_name: Pepper, Michael lyricists_id: MPEPP38 full_text_status: public publication: PHYS REV LETT volume: 98 number: 4 article_number: 046801 issn: 0031-9007 citation: Kataoka, M; Schneble, RJ; Thorn, AL; Barnes, CHW; Ford, CJB; Anderson, D; Jones, GAC; ...
