Little is known about family resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic when many resources were limited. This study examined the association of family resilience with child characteristics, family resources, and socioecological factors during the pandemic. Data collected during the COVID-19 pandemic from 734 United Kingdom parents/caregivers of children who are autistic and/or have intellectual disability were analyzed using path analysis. Greater family resilience was significantly associated with fewer child behavior problems, absence of intellectual disability, higher financial status, and greater family functioning, though not school support. These factors might guide future research and practices to support vulnerable families at risk of low resilience. date: 2025-01 date_type: published publisher: AMER ASSOC INTELLECTUAL and DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES-AAIDD official_url: https://doi.org/10.1352/1944-7558-130.1.24 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 2344825 doi: 10.1352/1944-7558-130.1.24 medium: Print pii: 504511 lyricists_name: Totsika, Vasiliki lyricists_name: Kouroupa, Athanasia lyricists_id: VTOTS67 lyricists_id: KOURO24 actors_name: Totsika, Vasiliki actors_id: VTOTS67 actors_role: owner funding_acknowledgements: ES/W001993/1 [Economic and Social Research Council] full_text_status: public publication: American Journal on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AJIDD) volume: 130 number: 1 pagerange: 24-40 pages: 17 event_location: United States issn: 1944-7515 citation: Dimitrova, Elizaveta; Kouroupa, Athanasia; Totsika, Vasiliki; (2025) Resilience in Families of Autistic Children and Children With Intellectual Disability During the COVID-19 Pandemic.
