This thesis explores the quality of educational delivery at the University of Liberia as the country and university continue to recover from the various calamities they have faced. Specifically, it examined how university lecturers view these challenges and their ability to deliver quality educational experiences to their students that encourage critical thinking, engage students with academic content, and prepare students to be Liberia’s future leaders and workforce. This study uses a qualitative case-study research methodology to analyse data through the lenses of critical realism, and post-colonial frameworks. This study revealed that the University of Liberia is not moving forward in the direction that it needs to reach its national development goals. With a lack of full-time, qualified teaching staff, lecturers have exorbitant teaching loads that leave little time for student engagement. The professional development opportunities are few, which means that unqualified lectures are not being supported in the academe. There is a consensus among the participants interviewed about what quality should look like while acknowledging that their view of quality is not presently being delivered at the university. University staff and students cannot engage with technology in meaningful ways that contribute to their learning and development. The level of access to high-quality education has been drastically impacted by Liberia’s history. This thesis analyses the legacy of Liberia’s settler community on the current situation at the university to identify and explain how the conditions within the institution have affected the academic
