The Nor-Sand constitutive model is implemented to simulate more realistic soil behaviour. Some landslide numerical examples are presented to investigate the performance of the proposed method and highlight the importance of using the double-point approach. The formulation with two sets of material points shows significantly different but more reliable results in the cases of landslides, compared with the conventional single-point approach. Furthermore, this research shows that the additional computational cost given by the additional water material points is acceptable. Therefore, it is recommended to use two sets of material points for some large deformation geotechnical problems. date: 2024-04-25 date_type: published publisher: Durham University official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.62512/conf.ukacm2024.018 oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 2334920 doi: 10.62512/conf.ukacm2024.018 lyricists_name: Xie, Mian lyricists_id: MXIEX05 actors_name: Xie, Mian actors_id: MXIEX05 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public pres_type: paper publication: Proceedings of the 2024 UK Association for Computational Mechanics Conference place_of_pub: Durham, UK pagerange: 149-152 event_title: UK Association for Computational Mechanics Conference 2024 book_title: UKACM Proceedings 2024 citation: Xie, Mian; Navas, Pedro; López-Querol, S; (2024) Study of Landslides through a Stabilised Semi-Implicit Material Point Method.
