N2  - We examine how organizational and social structure jointly influence knowledge transfer and sharing relations across organizational subunit boundaries. In an analysis of task advice relations among members of a Formula One team, we find that informal network mechanisms reinforce, complement and complete workflow dependencies implied by formal organizational structure.
