A balloon concept based on a Fourier Transform Spectrometer, covering a spectral range from about 90 GHz to 2 THz, adapted from previous mission proposals such as PIXIE and FOSSIL, is being studied and modeled. Taking into account the requirements and conditions of balloon flights, we present here the instrument concept together with the results of a CNES Phase 0 study. We forecast a first detection of the CMB Compton y-distortion monopole with a signal-to-noise ratio of at least 5. We also present the future plan and work that will be the subject of a recently awarded two-year Phase A study. date: 2024-08-16 date_type: published publisher: Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1117/12.3018371 oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 2323495 doi: 10.1117/12.3018371 lyricists_name: Savini, Giorgio lyricists_id: GSAVI26 actors_name: Flynn, Bernadette actors_id: BFFLY94 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public pres_type: paper publication: Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering volume: 13102 pagerange: 50-50 event_title: SPIE Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation 2024 event_location: Yokohama, Japan event_dates: 16th-22nd June 2024 book_title: Proceedings of the International Society for Optical Engineering editors_name: Zmuidzinas, Jonas editors_name: Gao, Jian-Rong citation: Maffei, B; Aghanim, N; Aumont, J; Battistelli, E; Beelen, A; Besnard, A; Borgo, B; ...
