This chapter argues that these are not only physical boundaries but also psychological and social boundaries for humans, ecological boundaries for animals and natural elements, and land use boundaries in cities and countryside. We ground our arguments on evidence from specific infrastructures in several countries, drawing from previous academic literature and newspaper articles. date: 2024-03-05 date_type: published publisher: Routledge official_url: https://www.routledge.com/Physical-and-Symbolic-Borders-and-Boundaries-and-How-They-Unfold-in-Space-An-Inquiry-on-Making-Unmaking-and-Remaking-Borders-and-Boundaries-/Tanulku-Pekelsma/p/book/9781032408101 full_text_type: other language: eng verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1988889 isbn_13: 9781032408101 lyricists_name: Anciaes, Paulo lyricists_id: PRANC25 actors_name: Anciaes, Paulo actors_id: PRANC25 actors_role: owner full_text_status: restricted place_of_pub: London, UK pagerange: 193-211 book_title: Physical and Symbolic Borders and Boundaries and How They Unfold in Space: An Inquiry on Making, Unmaking and Remaking Borders and Boundaries Across the World editors_name: Tanulku, B editors_name: Pekelsma, S citation: Van Eldijk, J; Anciaes, P; (2024) How transport infrastructures become personal, social, ecological, and land use boundaries.
