One key reason is that information about firms' pricing technologies and their adoption of new pricing software is rarely available. In this paper, we use detailed price data from the German retail gasoline market, where AP was supposedly introduced in 2017. We show how to identify changes in pricing technology using structural breaks in pricing behaviors associated with AP. date: 2022-05 date_type: published publisher: American Economic Association official_url: https://doi.org/10.1257/pandp.20221060 oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 2251767 doi: 10.1257/pandp.20221060 lyricists_name: Ershov, Daniel lyricists_id: DERSH94 actors_name: Ershov, Daniel actors_id: DERSH94 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public pres_type: paper publication: AEA PAPERS AND PROCEEDINGS volume: 112 pagerange: 457-460 pages: 4 event_title: 134th Annual Meeting of the American-Economic-Association (AEA) event_location: ELECTR NETWORK event_dates: 7 Jan 2022 - 9 Jan 2022 issn: 2574-0768 book_title: AEA Papers and Proceedings citation: Assad, Stephanie; Clark, Robert; Ershov, Daniel; Xu, Lei; (2022) Identifying Algorithmic Pricing Technology Adoption in Retail Gasoline Markets.
