On the one hand, violent conficts and structural violence have detrimental efects on educational processes and outcomes. On the other hand, education itself can (re)produce structural violence in society. Bringing together the felds of social science and cognitive neuroscience, this chapter provides a multi-faceted lens through which to address the challenges of education in diferent confict contexts from around the world, highlighting that the search for a collective peaceful future is complex. date: 2022 date_type: published publisher: UNESCO MGIEP official_url: https://mgiep.unesco.org/iseeareport oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1946128 isbn_13: 978-93-91756-04-8 lyricists_name: Pherali, Tejendra lyricists_id: TPHER77 actors_name: Pherali, Tejendra actors_id: TPHER77 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public place_of_pub: New Delhi, India pagerange: 328-394 book_title: Reimagining Education: The International Science and Evidence based Education Assessment. editors_name: Vickers, Edward editors_name: Pugh, K editors_name: Gupta, L citation: Pherali, Tejendra; Blair, Clancy; Korostelina, Karina; Macintyre, Thomas; Chakraborty, Anya; Ogunniran, Moses Oladele; (2022) From perpetrator to peacebuilder: rethinking education in conflict-affected societies.
